About Us

The “New Jersey All City Hoops Tournament” officially began as a non-profit one day community event held at the Thomas Dunn Sports Center at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Next, the tournament was able to move back to Newark and held at the Essex County College Gym facility in Newark, NJ.

Perhaps because many of the event organizers are graduates of Rutgers-University's Newark Campus we finally found a home for the tournament at Rutgers University's Golden Dome Athletic Center in downtown Newark, New Jersey.

To accommodate the expanded teams and sports activities the tournament has become a multi-day event featuring a 3 on 3 Championship, 3 point slam-dunk contest, college b-ball, celebrity hoops challenge, and other basketball games and activities.

The significance of the tournament hinges on the broader fact that basketball remains the dominant sports activity of many young people today. Both competitive individual & competitive team basketball with adult mentoring and supervision represents an important component in the personal and social development of many of our youth.

Overall the mission of the tournament remains to utilize sports as another creative bridge to provide for our youth safe public events, healthy competitive activities, and access to educational resources and opportunities.
